Mourning

You see a smile
I see tears
Continuing until the crying stops
Never leaving
The water came after me
Without stopping
As it is written
"For a whole year you will remember
And after that for the whole of your life
When the rest of the remainder
of your flesh and blood
relatives have departed."

The evidence was removed
That we were born into a family
Daughter and son of two roots
Polish father
Tunisian mother

And what is now left
Are the rewards
In memory of my parents
Those who survived to love.
